 Jengar is a CG Egalit Rogue 4 and a junior member of the Red Currant Synidcate.  He is featured in the Crypt of Dun'or adventure module, as yet untitled.  He is a scholar/rogue in the vein of Indiana Jones - lots of knowledge (dungeoneering), disable device and linguistics, probably knowledge (history) added as a class skill with a Feat.  Probably has the Rogue talents Quick Disable and Trap Spotter.

Raptor Chatter (Ex) Can speak with birds of prey.
Sneak Attack +2d6 +2d6 damage if you flank your target or your target is flat-footed.
Talons (Ex) +2 bonus to CMB and CMD for grapple. Do 1d3 slashing damage in melee. Use BAB -5.
Trap Sense +1 (Ex) +1 bonus on reflex saves and AC against traps.
Trapfinding +2 +2 to find or disable traps.
Uncanny Dodge (Ex) Retain Dex bonus to AC when flat-footed.

Hooks

  • Searching for Jengar kicks off the first published adventure module
  • Jengar is passionate about finding and preserving aspects of beastfolk culture wherever he goes, and might cross paths with any adventuring party who are also prone to go crypt-diving and explore old ruins
  • Jengar isn't psychic, but he meets a lot of beastfolk in his travels.  For a PC group that runs afoul of the beastfolk in a given area, especially Egalit, they may very well find that Jengar is subtly working against them as well

I like the story hooks with him, it gives a lot of tools for a GM to work Jengar into a campaign.

Yeah, in working on a bunch

Yeah, in working on a bunch of NPCs, I thought that a list of at least three Hooks should be part of every NPC description, sort of like sockets on the NPC where they can plug into a campaign. I think the same should be true for locations, set-pieces, organizations, all those sorts of things. It's something I always want setting material to give me, but only a few products actually do.
