The School of Omniscience is a school of magic in Sascria. It is focused on the study of divination magic.
Each of the Schools of arcane magic in Sascria is founded upon a powerful drive which many Wizards share - perhaps the most fundamental is the drive for knowledge. The life of the Wizard, whether war-mage or of the hedge variety, is founded upon knowledge and study. What better use of magical power than to expand this knowledge beyond what a mortal can possibly discover by mundane means?
The School of Omniscience was the last arcane school to truly rise to political power. Bookish, insular, frankly geeky, the diviners often loved information for its own sake, and for a long time foolishly shared this knowledge with any who asked, believing that greater knowledge would lead to a better society. They founded mundane schools throughout Sascria, in the beginning, in the hopes that children and adults alike would come to learn to read, learn arithmetic, and that some would even delve into natural philosophy, alchemy, medicine and the study of ancient civilizations that existed before Sascria was a word in any spoken tongue.
Belatedly, though they did much good, the School of Omniscience came to understand that they would always be vulnerable if they gave their knowledge away. They learned the power of withholding what they knew, of acting on information that by definition no one else could have. They learned to read the stars and read minds for their own benefit, and used this leverage to find a place among the other schools as a power to be reckoned with in the magocracy.
Still, the diviners lag behind in real power. They remain deeply concerned with the accumulation of knowledge, and those with great political aspirations often join other schools better suited to that.
As far as internal organization goes, the School of Omniscience still uses academic terminology, so that ranks like Student, Adjunct, Professor and Dean are common. They have Departments and Department chairs, committees and specialist publications which are only read by other members of the School.
It is widely believed that the School of Omniscience already knows what caused the Collapse, but that they will not share that information until they have protected themselves against a similar event in the future.

I think that no school of
I think that no school of divination is complete without some kind of big plot to use all of their information as leverage in the world. I mean, it's kind of like wire-tapping or hacking if you have a huge organization that can scry on anyone, anywhere. I think they would make very interesting antagonists. I mean, no one fears a diviner, right? Usually the villain is the necromancer. But it's possible to hide from a necromancer...
So perhaps the School of Omniscience is the most powerful magical school in Sascria, and rumors abound of highly placed members doing things like committing crimes and never being prosecuted. Powerful adventuring groups in Sascria will be watched by the SoO and may not appreciate it, as will anyone who develops a strong reputation. They provide security for important people and sites in the country.
They are perhaps something like ancient oracles - you have to come to them, and show them proper respect, and make an exorbitant 'donation', and they can answer any question you have.
