The magocratic cult that created the Pantheria. Located in Ferron. People would get pulled off the street by the cult, and the cult would then work on crafting the perfect panther-based Catfolk. Once perfected, they moved their creations to Ryslan, and island to the south of Ferron, south of the western peninsula.

I like the name change.

I like the name change.

Kidnapping?

So, you are saying the AoM kidnapped people and forcibly turned them into panther-based catfolk, yes? How did they keep their creations from turning on them?

No wonder they "moved", just ahead of mobs with torches and pitchforks I imagine.

Ok...

They were moved to the island by the AoM, and they were moved there because of the bad reputation that Beastfolk had because of this kind of thing, and they were controlled by magic.

I think an entertaining

I think an entertaining option is that the Pantherans found Human flesh delicious which made them sort of hard to work with. As a result, the arcanists who created the original stock set them loose on this island - which was the headquarters of a small group of rival arcanists.

Hmm....

This is an interesting idea since it is something that could also attribute to their grudge against humans, especially for the first generation Pantheria. That they eat humans - and can survive off of other things - despite the fact that they were once human, and that made them hate the AoM, which made them that way.

It would be cool to have at

It would be cool to have at least one of the races be a failed experiment, too. The Pantherans would be the beastfolk that retained too much of their animalistic nature and were somehow resistant to magic being used to keep them under control.

Since Sascria has a School of

Since Sascria has a School of Metamorphosis, what do you think about calling this group something more distinctly different? Maybe the Magocratic Order of Transmogrification or the Transmogrifiers for short? Or you could even go the opposite direction with something like "The Shifters"?

Any ideas for why they moved to Ryslan? Would it have been forced emigration or did the panther-folk choose to go there?

Why they moved?

They were moved because in the Ferron description it was said that Beastfolk had a bad reputation there - since the magocrats pulled people off the streets to experiment on or whatever, so the school moved them there, and I actually really like the idea of them being resistant to magic, and that could be another reason that they were moved there, like at first they weren't resistant, but they built up a resistance to magic, so the school could have moved them to Ryslan, and then they realized that they couldn't control them, and moved the rest of the to Ryslan before the Pantheria could turn on them. I also agree with the idea of having a name that is less similar to a School of Metamorphosis. I really like "The Shifters" though.

So as not to be confusing (we

So as not to be confusing (we already have a School for each arcane magical 'school') why not change the name to the Cult of Metamorphoses? Maybe they experimented on citizens, and then perfected their techniques and used their magic on themselves, trying to create perfected beings or somesuch?

Also, check out the racial write-up: I made sure to make them resistant to mind-affecting magic.

This whole "cult" episode could also be a lot of *why* beastfolk have a bad reputation in Ferron - there are legends of this cabal of mad sorcerers who transformed themselves into cannibal panthers and had to be relocated to their own island...
