Setting Concepts     Rules Systems     The Plan     Events     Active Games     Free for All

Hi all Im kyle, 22 yrs old and live in Arizona.  Im going to college for game design and working at subway.  Hobbies are gaming, writing, hackey sack and hiking.

Till

I am Till,
probably the only German guy here (technically: A Belgian exile in Germany...), and I really hate these introductions, because I never really know what to write.
I play RPGs for more than 16 years by now, and have no particluar preferences; there are a few games I like, many more games I really don't like, and games I play, which are not necessarily those I like. I like to think that I just have high standards but it's more likely that I am just an elitist who likes to sneer on thinks he doesn't like.
I usually prefer both realistic systems and settings over those which ae more focused on style over substance, and in a setting I praise verisimilitude above everything else. I try to build settings on this base, focussing strongly on inner logic (which is aslo the measure I use for the evaluation of other settings).

I am a semi-professional translator (English and German), an English and history teacher in training, a roleplayer and I have worked for a radio station, a pigfarm and a social programme for children from problematic families. I am a solid writer with a few (okay, 4) professional publications (mostly information booklets about migration in Eastern Europe).

Hi,

Hi, I am Katrin (and the wife of the grognard above). I am also from Germany.
Unfortunately, I will probably not finish my own setting in time, but I offer to do some artwork and the whole tedious proof-reading and layout work and offer my opinion, if I am asked.

Gruess euch!

Ich habe ein Jahr in Wien gewohnt. Mein Deustch ist nicht mehr flussig, aber hoeffentlich ist es nicht schleft. ;) Welcome to you both, and there will be plenty of opportunities to contribute in the coming months. It's great to have you aboard and part of the Swarm!

Danke Schön ;)

I really like this, until now and I guess Kat and me will try to do our best. I am not the worst writer, my wife is good in layouting and the like (she is also my safeguard for orthography). I might be a bit grumpy from time to time, but that's the result of way too much snow and a mean cold.

Hi, my real name is Connor

Hi, my real name is Connor Dykstra, but I go by Zack. If you couldn't quess I'm into RPG's, be it it electronic or table top. As of late my internet has been sporadic, but I'm trying to fix that so I will be more active. What else to say? I used to go to school at UIUC, but after a concussion I was forced to go to Heartland Community College until I recovered. I am planning on now going into Anthropology at either ISU or UIUC starting next year. My education is sporadic with a lot of work in most sciences except Astronomy and Geology. In my spare time I make swords and armor, I write, and I read way more than can be healthy. So far my table-top experiences have been limited to DnD, Call of Cthulu (awesome game!), and a game a friend of mine designed based off of FFVII (it is a really solid game, and here's hoping she can get it published soon). As for my gaming style, I have GMed a lot of games, played in hundreds, and have 2 games right now that need some beta-testing before I finish them. I'm looking forward to working more with the swarm to develop some new games and hopefully get my name out there too! :)

Hola!

The name is Dave Hoover and I am the owner/manager of Armored Gopher Games in Urbana, IL.

I know both Sean and Mike personally, and was heavily involved in some of the game design projects that Sean had worked on in the past.

As an amateur, I have designed a LOT of homebrew rules to fit various games and settings I have come up with. As a result, while I love universal game systems (GURPS, HERO System, Savage Worlds), I prefer systems tailored to the setting. Is that and efficient use of design and effort? No. It does, however, lead to cool games where the mechanics and toys involved help evoke the setting (biggest example: the original Deadlands with the cards and the poker chips).

Lately, I don't really have the time I would like to devote to make more rules systems and settings. Thus, I figured I'd contribute some effort to this thing. It lets me exercise my crative bug in small bits and bursts.

peace... Dave

Hello everyone...

My name is Sean, and I'm a gameaholic.

Oh right, this isn't that kind of meeting. ;)

Well, about me... I got bit by the RPG bug with the D&D blue-box set back in... '77, was it? and haven't really looked back since. I like to play boardgames, computer games, card games - pretty much 'games' covers it - and usually have an idea or three about how I'd change things. (I often do, when I'm running an RPG.) I also live in Champaign-Urbana, working for a local ISP as a network administrator.

I've taken a stab or two at game design in the past (speaking of which, I really need to find my Tastes Like Chicken originals so I can work on the next revision), but nothing published or even close to publishable as yet. I'm looking forward to working with the Swarm on a likely project.

Hello

Hey, my name is Doug. I am doing a bunch of things (too many) but in the near future I am moving back to northeast OH to take a new job as a Presbyterian minister. I am also an avid gamer and a game designer, working for Jolly Roger Games and also as a freelancer (not very successfully, but we'll see how things develop over time) and working on my own projects to self-publish once my skills develop further.

When I game, I really enjoy D&D 3.x, Mortal Coil, Burning Wheel, Mouse Guard, GURPS, Spirit of the Century, Monsters and Other Childish Things and Old World of Darkness games (with loads of house rules). I have and would love a chance to play: Swashbucklers of the Seven Skies, Dogs in the Vineyard, Mutants and Masterminds, Savage Worlds and a few others.

Feel free to message me, find me on Facebook or whatever. Looking forward to more swarming.

Mike

My name is Mike - as you probably guessed. I live in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, home of the University of Illinois. The University is where I have my "day job" as an IT manager for a couple different departments. While the University is where I currently work, I have a had various IT-related jobs in multiple organizations - an internet start-up, an engineering/manufacturing company, and a marketing agency. I have a pretty wide background of business knowledge and decided that bySwarm was the time to put even more of those skills into regular practice.
