It's awesome to see some new names have joined the Swarm, and I wanted to just sort of collectively welcome everyone who has joined us recently. I'm really glad that MikeB's events went so well at GenCon, and I'm liking all the work I'm seeing. It's awesome to have more collaborators, and I'm excited about how the Dark Golden Age will look moving forward.
Also, if any of you are going to be at Con on the Cob here in northeast Ohio, I'll get a chance to meet you in person. Either way, though, welcome!

Hello
I met Mike at the Gencon also and liked his concept for a series of collabarative projects. As a published author/illustrator (I wrote and illustrated The Black Fortress:Death Master for Black Skull Games) I am looking forward to having more people to bounce ideas off of and maybe get some stuff out there to build up more of the street cred.
I've been gaming for maybe twenty two years now (how the time flies) and have played mostly GURPS, Marvel's Advanced Super Heroes, AD&D 1st through 3.5 edition, Dragonlance 2nd edition,Vampire Masquerade, Call of Cthulu, and am now getting some experience with Pathfinder although i have yet to play a game under that system so bear with me if my stuff tends to still look like 3.5. LOL
I am liking what I'm able to read so far, there is so much to digest which spawns other ideas, and have great expectations for this project once its completed. So good luck to you all! :o)
Who am I
Hello, Sean Holland here. Been gaming for ages, done some freelance work on various projects over the years and all around traditional gamer geek.
I love tinkering with the Pathfinder system, so I am glad to be able to help out here. My pure mechanics commentary tends to be short and to the point, not trying to be rude, just being direct. Fair warning and all.
Anyway, you can see some of my other Pathfinder (and other) work at my Sea of Stars RPG design journal. Looking forward to working with you all.
To the point
I enjoy curt responses. My mother hated everything I ever painted, my dad loved everything I ever did. She stayed with me her entire life and he left. You just never know... Sometimes those that respect and love you can be the hardest on you.
That said I find my wife of 28 years to be a ROCK to anchor my life upon and have since learned it is best to have someone outwardly despise your work and know it than to have them gloss over your failings and everyone else see them.
Welcome Sean. I don't mind
Welcome Sean. I don't mind your to-the-point commentary at all. I assume going in that everyone intends well, and I'm happy being blunt right back :)
Thanks :D
Thanks for the welcome. I too look forward to being involved in this process. I have been in the table-top gaming world since '76 and have played in a number of places with a number of games. I have written my own things and even gone so far as to copyright some of it. I am currently looking to "legitimize" and coalesce my writing skills so I went to a number of seminars at Gencon. I was impressed with Mike's pitch in that he struck me as a capable writer that wanted to strike out, in a direction of his own, and create a number of works that could be termed as fresh and independent.
Now this is not at all a dig against anyone, but all of the seminars were hosted by people that knew one another and without coming out and saying it, all belong to the "same stable". When I heard Mike cover his plans for creating material and how that Pathfinder and the OGL was chosen overwhelmingly as the milieu of choice I became curious. I had never heard of pathfinder and although I had all of the 3.5 books my wife and friends refused to play it because they claimed it was too convoluted. Well, to me, perception is everything. If our customers say we stink then... well. So I looked up pathfinders on the web and found out that Paizo is the creator of this game system. I found them in the "big central room" at Gencon and went over and played some there. My wife immediately liked it! We could become one on the field of combat again! She also liked the Hero Lab tool from Lone Wolf Dev. So I bought that program, D20Pro (a proggie that lets you host games over the internet) the Core rules and Advanced Players guide to Pathfinders.
Over the next two days we had to be pried loose from the Pathfinder's Society if we were to leave at all. We had a great time, met new friends, killed stuff and took its treasure. All in all it was the best Gencon I have attended in a while. Not in the smallest part to attending Mike's seminar. So although I believe that a man sets his own destiny, I am convinced that things are placed in his path that he might grow into those skills which he possesses. Certainly this goes for women too, except they should never grow into a he.
Thanks!
Thanks!
What you said means a lot, so I'm really glad that you felt that way. It occurred to me that I should create a video of the Gen Con presentation for those that might want to hear it. I'll put that up soon so that everyone can hear what we're all about.
Thank you for the welcome. I
Thank you for the welcome. I will not be at the Con on the Cob, but with a name like that I would love to be.
