We'll be using this page to track the bySwarm events and activities taking place at Gen Con 2010 in Indianapolis on August 5 to August 8. If you have ideas or suggestions on things you would like to do with us or just want to let us know that you plan to attend, this is the place!
You can read the notes from the E-tools seminar.
All of these events have been accepted by Gen Con and will be taking place in Indy in 2010!
Writing and getting published at bySwarm.com
Friday, August 6 - 10am - 1 hour (SEM1008960)
Sunday, August 8 - 10am - 1 hour (SEM1008958)
bySwarm.com offers aspiring game writers, designers and artists an opportunity to get their work seen and even use it as a chance to break into the industry. In this session, we'll be talking about how you can contribute to bySwarm.com and how we value your work. We will also demonstrate the various features of the site and how anyone from a player with some interesting plot ideas to a writer with years of setting history ideas can get involved.

Saw your shirts a few times but I was always to busy to be able to say hello. Hope the Con went well for you.
Gen Con went very well
The seminars had great attendance with lots of people interested in participating, and the setting received very positive responses from players. My next con will likely be Con on the Cob in Ohio (http://cononthecob.com/). Robosnake is in that area and will be attending as well.
Possible Game
I am not sure if I will be attending Gen-Con this year. It really depends on if Anna and I have the time and money, but we're going to try to be there. If we can, I was thinking about setting up a time slot to run at least a beta of the BySwarm game, whichever one it may be. I hope we can reach this point, but if not I plan on running a game I've designed that's nearly finished and will advertise BySwarm while running the game. Finally, I'd be up for working on advertising BySwarm while there (nothing says 'join us' like a guy in cosplay handing out fliers!). If anyone is interested in working on any of this with me, or who happens to know how I register to run an official game at GenCon, please let me know! Also, any idea how far along our game will be by then (i.e. will be selling, at beta, or not there yet?).
Edit: Realized that I just needed to look at the Plan page, so scratch that.
Where we'll be at Gen Con time
We should have a lot of content for the setting by Gen Con up and running on the site. With the current schedule I have planned, we'll be closing the setting concept submissions on February 20 with choosing a system wrapped up before the end of March. That will give us four months to create content and continue getting more and more people involved. That will be plenty of time to at least have some gaming sessions. We may also have our first whole product by then, but it's hard to say since we won't know what we've got until June or July.
Cool!
Cool! In that case if I do make it to GenCon I'd like to run a game using the game (or games if we've made it that far) developed by BySwarm. I'd also still be interested in helping advertise while there too. I should know for definite if I will be going or not by April (I hope).
