Setting Concept Contest is open!
If you haven't been to the site in the last couple weeks, you might not have heard that the setting concept competition has officially begun. There have already been several setting concepts submitted. If you have an RPG setting that you've been building for years with your gaming group or if you've got some new ideas brewing, the setting concept competition is a great opportunity to stretch your creative legs and contribute to the Swarm. Even if you don't feel like you've got the skills to write your own setting concept, we still need the Swarm to log into the site and review the concepts that have been submitted.

Logo design at 99designs
Since we're going to be using the crowd aka the Swarm to build our gaming products, we thought it would be good to use the crowd to design our logo. We had heard about 99designs before and decided to use their system to create a logo. The response from the 99designs community has been great so far. If you want to give the contest a shot or just want to post comments on the designs submitted so far, you can get to the project site from bySwarm.com.

New site feature
Besides activating the setting concept submissions, we've also added an invite feature to the site. Once you've logged into the site, you can go to the "Invite a friend" link in the navigation. You can invite a number of people and include a personal message telling them why they should join the Swarm. Maybe you want to tell them about how fun it is. Maybe you think the work we are doing is going to be awesome. Maybe you want to tell them to post a review of your setting concept. It's up to you what motivation you give them to join.

Self-Promotion Pro Tip
So you have written a setting concept or are thinking about writing one, but you have not yet gotten enough reviews to see what your concept has been rated. There is one great way to get people to go post a review of your concept. The way to do that is to run a one-shot gaming session that introduces your setting to your gaming group or at the local gaming store. At some point during the game - probably at the beginning or the end - mention that you have submitted the setting into the bySwarm setting concept competition and that they (the players) can go to the site and post a review of the setting. This method works, too, if you are submitting a setting concept that you have been using in your game for a long time.
